Jessie Haddad and Garth Reypert

Jessie Haddad

Jessie Haddad qualified as a physiotherapist at WITS in 1994. She spent some years working in a hospital setting both in the government and private sector. She has spent most of her career working in private practice in the Clovelly and then Fish Hoek areas. Whatever the nature of the problem – whether sports injuries, back and neck pain, headaches, arthritic problems, muscle pain, joint stiffness, chronic pain…. Jessie likes to approach treatment from a holistic perspective and with a strong focus on prevention of further occurrences in the future, through rehabilitation and working to educate and empower patients to self-manage their health and wellbeing.

In 2014 Jessie completed the National Pain Course through the South African Society of Physiotherapy and this has helped to develop her work significantly in the field of chronic pain. Jessie has done many and various courses over the years that have helped to enrich her approach including Craniosacral work, the Feldenkrais approach to movement, treatment of the Tempero-Mandibular joint (jaw), Sensory Integration for adults, REBT (rational emotive behaviour therapy – a type of CBT), Acceptance and Behaviour Therapy, and Fascial Manipulation. She has also personally attended training in TRE (Trauma Release Exercise), Cardiac Coherence and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. Extensive reading has also equipped Jessie with many other tools.

Jessie sees patients privately and also runs a movement class twice a week based on the Feldenkrais Method.

Garth Reypert

I graduated in 2009 from UCT and completed my Community Service at the Port Elizabeth Hospital complex in 2010.After Community Service, I married my beautiful wife, Joanna, in early 2011 and soon after began to serve with the Military at a military hospital in Cape Town from 2011 to 2018.

During my time in the armed forces, I was fortunate enough to attempt a Master’s of Public Health through UCT and graduated in 2016, and supervised 3rd year physiotherapy students as part of their undergraduate degree on their 5-week rotation through the hospital.

Upon completing my Military Duties, I moved to Jessie’s practice, where you will find me now. I run the 6-week long Chronic Pain Course every few months starting again in January 2019. I have experience and training in Dry Needling, Chronic Pain and a wide variety of Post-op and Neurological rehabilitation techniques.

I look forward to meeting you and finding out how I can help you on your journey.

What clients say about Jessie & Garth

"When Jessie was recommended to me I had been living with pain for over 2 years. Multiple physiotherapists had not recognised the problem and when I finally found one that did, she was unable to help me further than traditional physio but thought that Jessie might. Jessie's use of a bio-psycho-social approach to pain management quickly led to improvements in my pain levels and gave me hope that I might one day be better. My pain had been limiting my use of a computer to work, driving and exercising, amongst other "normal" activities and my mental health and cognition were suffering. Now I rarely experience pain and when I do, I know how to reduce its intensity. Jessie is empathetic, deeply insightful, funny and motivating. I appreciate her efforts to learn about the latest techniques and science in physiotherapy. Working with her not only led to me regaining my life but also equipped me with tools for life and future pain. I feel that she saved my life and would recommend anyone in temporary or persistent pain to visit her."

"It never ceases to amaze me how you can pinpoint exactly the origin of my aches and pains and tweak my muscles into submission every month at our ‘ maintenance’ visit. You are a physiotherapy ‘guru’ with a deep understanding of so much more than just the physical body and it’s functions and I want you to know that I deeply appreciate your treatment and wisdom! I especially appreciate the verification that for me surfing is a prerequisite for my violin playing health, not just fun!!"

"Jessie Haddad worked a miracle on a knee which I thought I would never be able to use again! I injured my knee while bending down to pick something off the floor, and having been an avid runner, I was devastated to find that I was unable to run......for 10 years! I could not even go for a walk of more than a couple of kilometres without such severe pain I had to stop and sometimes walk backwards! Jessie's patient care and the exercises she set for me changed my life in three months! I am now running again and am almost back to the pace I was running at 15 years ago."

When Jessie treats you, you know for sure that her focus is on only you and how to make you feel and heal better in that session. Jessie is extremely knowledgeable and can bring a number of treatments together to ensure you get the best treatment to get better."

"Jessie has helped me enormously to combat, manage and understand my chronic nerve pain over the last few years. Not only is she highly skilled in all of the physical capacities you would expect from a physiotherapist, but she seamlessly balances these practices with the up-to-date findings on the holistic relationship between mind and body that are so crucial to combatting nerve pain."
